
For many Penn Staters, Thursday nights in Happy Valley mark the beginning of weekend festivities. However for some of the more creatively inclined student population, Thursday nights are devoted to theater, in a very unconventional sense.

The much anticipated Hoops Madness basketball pep rally took place last night in Rec Hall. As someone who fell in love with the team last year and their magical run to the NCAA tournament, I was happy to hear that the basketball team was finally getting some love from the athletic department. What we got, however, was three-and-a-half-hours of utter embarrassment.

Wednesday night, UPUA made significant strides, both in its own development, and in creating a program for the benefit of the student body. And they did it in record time. Indeed, what was easily the shortest meeting of Penn State's student government might well have been among its most influential. Just as important, though, is that there was hardly an ounce of debate on any of the legislation brought up Wednesday.

Because it's never too early to give State College a collective aneurysm arguing over State Patty's Day, mark the date: November 2, 2011 was the first time that we saw the event emerge in the news in a major way.
