Student and community activists rallied on by the Allen Street gates on College Avenue yesterday evening. Protesters were expressing their displeasure with major corporations, tuition hikes, and Marcellus Shale fracking. Unified chants were made, including the crowd favorite, "We Are...the 99%."

Fans will have a chance to get their first look at this year's overhauled Nittany Lion basketball team on Saturday at the Bryce Jordan Center. The event begins at noon and will allow the public to watch the team practice from inside the BJC. The practice will be followed by a meet-and-greet with the team along with refreshments, prizes, and games.

Penn State's first year pumpkin carving contest is a new festivity joining the list of things to do during October's fall season. Enter your pumpkin, carve it and it'll be a jack-o'-lantern among others up for judging and you could win a ribbon for your creativity.
