Roland Fryer, a 2002 Penn State graduate, was awarded a $500,000 fellowship by the MacArthur Foundation to help him pursue his work in economics.

Weekend Winning for Women’s Volleyball

The No. 9 Penn State women's volleyball team recorded weekend sweeps over Wisconsin and No. 10 Minnesota at Rec Hall. With these two victories, the Nittany Lions improved their overall record to 10-4 and their Big Ten record to 3-1.

The Nittany Lions were nowhere near perfect over the weekend. Several times they looked susceptible to big runs which kept Wisconsin in the match; however, they have won nine consecutive sets. Dropping early sets, which was a problem earlier in the year, has been corrected for the moment.

Penn State Escapes Indiana with a 16-10 Victory

Penn State overcame turnovers, penalties and general bad luck to beat Indiana 16-10. Defense was key in the victory, as Penn State forced two turnovers and held Indiana to just 260 yards.

According to the Weather Channel, it's about 50 degrees in Bloomington, Ind., and should remain cool throughout the Penn State football game at Indiana. UPUA Heads West for PASS Conference

If you asked Christian Ragland about it, I'm sure he'd look back and say that the formation of Pennsylvania Association of State-Related Schools was the highlight of his tenure as UPUA President. Joining together Penn State, Pitt, Temple, and Lincoln universities, the coalition took on even greater importance as state appropriations to the four were cut in the spring. It will continue to live on, even after the departure of Ragland, and this afternoon, a contingency from the UPUA will join their counterparts from the other three universities in Pittsburgh for the organization's first conference of the year.

New Sheetz to Open on S. Atherton

This winter, Sheetz will expand its fleet of convenience stores/gas stations in the State College area to include a new location on South Atherton Street.
