Joe Paterno Earns Gerald Ford Award

While Joe Paterno has earned many accolades for his work on the football field, his many accomplishments off the field over the past sixty years have not gone unnoticed. He was honored again on Thursday night in San Antonio when he received the Gerald R. Ford Award at the annual NCAA convention. Last night's THON Band Bash had twice the usual number of winners.

5 Cherry Lewis and Dave Joyce and the Slow Pitch Band were both named winners of the six band competition. IFC-PHC Producing YouTube Video to Feature Greek Leaders

The IFC and PHC are teaming up to do a promotional video showcasing some major Greek talent. The video—due out within the next two weeks—will highlight a variety of Greek leaders on campus and their accomplishments.

When asked why they chose to make a video, IFC president Dan Florencio said, “It’s a form of media we haven’t utilized in the past.”

While the IFC may not have exploited the viral nature of YouTube yet, some of their Greek broskis have: “Death to Greek Life”, a video made by ex-AEPi members, criticized the Interfraternity Council for their conduct over the past two years. When asked if this new, positive video was a response to the recently made “Death to Greek Life,” Florencio responded, “absolutely not,” adding, “[We’re] just featuring Greek talent in a new way.”

Penn State Basketball Mid-Season Report Card

Expectations were high for the Penn State basketball team going into this season. After adjusting to life after Jamelle Cornley's departure last year, where no leader ever stepped up and the Nittany Lions struggled to an 11-20 record, this year was supposed to be different. With four senior starters, this team was expected to compete for the top half of the Big Ten. After sixteen games, I'm still very shaky about this team.
