You've got a bowl full of candy, a fridge full of alcohol, and a few pumpkins you carved at the Arboretum displayed proudly on your countertop. You've watched Hocus Pocus at least seven times in the past two weeks. Everything's going according to plan. Except in the whirlwind of autumn festivity, you completely forgot to pick up a costume. We anticipated your lazy forgetfulness and gathered a few costume ideas for such an instance.

Just over a month ago, the parents of Lt. Michael Murphy somberly walked southeast until they reached College Avenue. They roamed for three blocks and then made a sharp right-hand turn onto Heister Street, where muralist Michael Pilato was patiently waiting. Their son’s memorial had just been dedicated and now Murphy had been painted on the same mural that he walked past nearly every day as a student.

Being a legitimate townie (suck it Bellefonte!!) I have spent a lot of my pre and post pubescent years eating at the Corner Room. It’s a fixture of State College life—Allen street would just look strange without it. That being said I feel like I haven’t really appreciated this fine establishment in the way I feel it deserves. On my most recent visit I decided to look at the Corner Room with a new perspective, like I had never eaten there before.

As Penn Staters stumble home in the cold from their Thirsty Thursday festivities, they are drawn to the infamous cheese balls at Grillers like moths to a flame. Armed with some delightfully greasy grilled cheese sandwiches, we sat to observe the impending parade of debauchery. Here are the best (or worst, depending how you'd like to look at it) things that we overheard at Grillers.

Muralist Michael Pilato has plans to expand his Heister Street "Inspiration Mural" around the block, adding more students and other Penn State symbols that have emerged over the past year.

A bright red sign that reads "We're Moving On" hangs from the window of the State College vintage store, The Rag and Bone. At the end of this year, the East Calder Way store front will be permanently closed. But all of the costume jewelry, funky colored wigs, derby hats and one-piece bathing suites will continue to be sold under The Rag and Bone name from an online store. Learn more about the retro shop's move into the virtual after the jump.
