Penn State hockey managed to erase an early three-goal deficit and find a way to win in overtime.

A hard-fought game ended in a defeat for the Nittany Lions in their first Big Ten game of the season.

Penn State is 19-5 all-time against Illinois and is currently riding a two-game win streak dating back to 2015.

"It's been a tough season. It's not what we expected. But I think people should be proud of the way this team finished."

Penn State's defense came up big in the second half and allowed the Nittany Lions to fight their way back.

"I told you guys in the summer, Parker's a great talent. He has all the intangibles to be a great player."
