
The other five candidates in the Democratic primary for Pennsylvania Lieutenant Governor couldn't have been happy for someone with the name recognition of Jay Paterno to enter the race last week. Their displeasure was confirmed yesterday, as Paterno finished ahead of all his competitors in the latest Harper Poll.

In the wake of State Patty’s Day weekend, the UPUA assembly held a relatively tame weekly meeting last night. While the deteriorating holiday was on the night’s agenda, the most noteworthy part of the meeting may have came at the start as new executive vice president and provost Nicholas Jones addressed the assembly.

We all know by now that 34 of State College's bars, restaurants, and bottle shops will not be serving or selling alcohol come Saturday. Unlike last year, there was still the prospect of some staying open up until Penn State's announcement Wednesday. With payment dependent on the capacity of the business, some larger establishments were given more incentive to close this year, with some receiving $2,500 more than they received last year. So the question becomes, "was the money the reason they closed?"

THON weekend is the culmination of a yearlong effort led by students and supported by alumni, donors,volunteers, and Penn Staters everywhere.
