Penn State Center for the Study of Terrorism Closing

The International Center for the Study of Terrorism at Penn State announced Monday that it would close on June 30, with director John Horgan and some researchers moving to the University of Massachusetts Lowell to continue its work. This may put undergrads majoring in security and risk analysis in a bind as some of its highest profile professors leave. And, one of the center's leading terrorism experts said as the center looked for more academic support, she was blindsided by the university's reluctance to retain its researchers.

Jermaine Marshall Transferring Instead of Going Pro

Jermaine Marshall, the Nittany Lions basketball guard who averaged 15.3 points a game in a breakout junior season, has decided not to play professional basketball overseas and will instead transfer from Penn State. ESPN is reporting that Marshall has been granted his release and will be playing his final season outside of Happy Valley.

Philly Guard Shep Garner Commits to Penn State

For the second time in as many weeks, Pat Chambers was able to get a verbal commit from a Philadelphia native. Shep Garner, a three-star guard recruit out of Philly's Roman Catholic High School will round out the 2014 recruiting class.
