PSU Storm Chase Needs Your Help to #DominateTheStorm

Since their formation last Spring, the Penn State Storm Chase Team has been hard at work preparing for their summer trip to the Midwest to chase storms and try to see a tornado or two. In addition to a preliminary trip this past summer to train the officers, there have been several small trips in the fall when severe weather threatened near Happy Valley.

Meet Jesse Scott, The Student Responsible for $4 Million

He might be the most powerful student at Penn State, and you've probably never heard of him. I'm talking, of course, about Jesse Scott, a down-to-earth 31-year old Penn State Ph.D. student who likes to cook, go dancing with his wife Laura, and watch Doctor Who in his free time. Work time for Scott, however, is a good deal more serious. He chairs the University Park Allocation Committee, which allocates about $4 million in funding to student organizations throughout the year.

Business Fraternity Rush Week Begins Thursday

Starting this Thursday (1/30), rush week for business fraternities will begin in earnest with the Business Fraternity Council (BFC) Mixer. All of the business fraternities the University has will be present at the event, enabling rushees to meet representatives from all of the fraternities in order to determine which one (or ones) they want to rush.

Kidnapping reported near Simmons Hall

According to a Penn State news release, a kidnapping of a Penn State student reportedly occurred on Shortlidge Road near Simmons Hall on Saturday at about 1 a.m.

Penn State Altoona Student Charged With Possessing Weapon of Mass Destruction

A Penn State Altoona Engineering student was arrested last night on multiple charges for possessing a weapon of mass destruction. The Altoona police arrested 19-year-old Vladislav Miftakhov after they found a suspected bomb and materials to build a bomb inside a suitcase at his residence in Altoona. Miftakhov admitted to buying the materials over the internet over the last several weeks, and the bomb squad was called in to deconstruct the apparatus.
