Atlas Benefitting THON is perhaps best known for being the first non-Greek organization to fundraise the highest total over the course of a year. You’ll see them wearing their signature fuzzy pink hats—on street corners during canning weekends, and in their place in the stands during THON itself. But just as the fuzzy pink hats have their own story, Atlas has a new story to tell this year—this past Thursday, the day before THON, Atlas just got its third THON family.

I don't think that I made it through more than an hour of THON last year before boredom took over and I ventured back to East Halls. But after just a few caffeine-powered hours in the Bryce Jordan Center and a trip down to the floor, my perspective on the world's largest student-run philanthropy has taken a complete turn. I finally get it. And that's thanks to a conversation with Dancer #181, senior elementary education major Owen Divers, a Phi Mu Alpha dancer that's dedicated a ton of time to the event during his four years at Penn State.
At 6:42 this morning, RAM Squad took to the stage and generally rocked the Bryce Jordan Center with a dazzling display of hip hop dance. Towards the end of the performance, RAM brought its THON children onto the stage, putting a capper to an excellent performance and RAM’s emphatic introduction to the larger world of THON.
Early on Saturday morning, dancers and moralers seemed to be in good spirits, and were very energetic to talk about their experience at THON 2012.
