Hey, fellow Branch Campus Kids. I'm Bill. I'm like you: I attended one of the many branch campuses in the Penn State system for two years -- Altoona, to be exact -- and I'm now up at University Park. Or State, but people around here hate it when you call it that. We'll get to that part in a minute.
If you missed out on the whole wear-a-floral-headband-and-go-to-a-music-festival thing this summer, fear not! ThirdPlace, a community service organization for young adults, is hosting a family friendly, alcohol-free outdoor concert this Saturday at Harvest Fields in Boalsburg.
The highly-anticipated Bill O'Brien conference call Thursday afternoon ended anticlimactically with the quarterback situation still uncertain at Penn State. O'Brien had previously said he would name a starting quarterback by the end of the week, and seeing as this was his last scheduled media availability this week, it seemed to fit that today would be the day. It was all for naught, however, as O'Brien wouldn't put the situation to rest.
UPUA and GSA representatives asked state senators to support a bill establishing a permanent student trustee. They also would like to see this as a student-elected position.
The brand new Chace Hall and the renovated Haller Hall are set to open to students for the first time this weekend in South -- both offering a taste of the future for on campus Penn State student housing.
Being known as "Linebacker U" is a long-standing Penn State tradition, and if Mike Hull has anything to say about it, that moniker won't end with him. Hull, a junior linebacker out of the Pittsburgh area, is stepping into some big shoes this season as he takes over as a starting linebacker on the Nittany Lions defensive unit.
