Admittedly, last night was the first time I have attended a UPUA meeting in nearly a year, and it was also my first time actually having to pay attention (which is harder than it may seem). Any reasonable person, like myself, would come in with high expectations. I was hoping for an enlivened Anthony Weiner-esque speech from President T.J. Bard, a Joe Biden signature f-word slip up from VP Courtney Lennartz, or perhaps even a leftist Kucinich style outburst from fan-favorite Elias Warren. After all, galvanizing democracy is what I have come to know from my student-leaders, why should I imagine any different?
The Penn State Men’s Basketball Team will welcome the 22nd ranked Fighting Illini to the Bryce Jordan Center for a Big Ten conference clash. The game is a primetime 9 pm start and will be broadcasted on ESPN2. For students, if you wear a gray Penn State shirt to the game, attendance is FREE. It also Dollar Dog Night, so there are really no reasons to miss out on this one.
The "Board of Trustees" has been thrown around in conversation very generally as if to explain an omnipotent identity when for the most part, its actual structure and power dynamics are overlooked. It is the purpose of this article to explain the bigger picture, to answer the questions "What is the Board of Trustees?" and "What makes one eligible to be on the board?".
Winter break is over. Syllabus week is over. As they say, it is back to reality. After a long winter break, I'm finding it hard to get motivated for my classes this semester.
