
To state the obvious, Saturday’s Wisconsin game was a special one for all Penn State students and alumni. It was even more special for a former Blue Band member and a current Blue Band senior.

After a poor performance against Virginia early on in the season Sam Ficken rebounded to end the season with ten straight field goals including the game winner in overtime against Wisconsin.

While former Penn State President Graham Spanier was likely busy sun bathing in the Bahamas or hiking the Alps, playing the washboard and doing magic tricks for natives of lands far away on his one year sabbatical, he was also taking home a hefty paycheck from the university.
