The final week of fattening up schedules with delicious cupcakes has come and gone and Big Ten teams made the most of it in Week Four with astronomical point totals seen all across the Midwest.
On a quiet Wednesday evening at 8 p.m. (Wednesday, September 1, the Wednesday before the Youngstown State game, to be exact), the battlefield known as Beaver was completely deserted, as students across campus hid from the humid summer heat in their air conditioned dorm rooms.
But as the moon slowly rose over the campus, casting threatening-looking shadows around the stadium’s student entrance, Gate A, two young men sauntered confidently up to the gate with collapsible camping chairs in hand, their laughter echoing off the cold, steel outer-walls of the arena.
"There weren't any fat kids out there," said head coach Joe Paterno after Saturday's 22-13 comeback victory against Temple, referring to the well-coached, well-prepared Owls.
Because who doesn't think: "Oh, I have some free time today. I think I'll go paint a mural outside the stadium."
Regardless, this is still pretty sweet. Enjoy.
Penn State students will get another chance to show the country just why we are the best student section in the nation when we go on the road to take on Iowa.
The showdown is next Saturday, October 2nd at 8 p.m.
Saturday's 3:30 p.m. kickoff will mark the 40th meeting between in-state rivals Temple and Penn State in a series that has been dominated by the Nittany Lions.
