As the Jerry Sandusky trial gets underway this morning, a national NBC News report with new evidence could result in charges against former Penn State President Graham Spanier.

The last few weeks have undoubtedly been busy with numerous legal filings and motions. However, the day is here. The Jerry Sandusky case begins.

Beginning Friday morning, I read many comments and stories from Penn State fans saying that the day marked the beginning of the rest of their lives. While I have not yet generated my own phrase to describe a post-Joe Paterno world, I do believe this time can serve as a period of quietness after 83 days of chaos.

Joe Paterno, Tim Curley, and Gary Schultz all had written testimoy read on their behalf during the afternoon portion of the preliminary trial for Curley and Schultz.

Mike McQueary was the first testimony in today’s preliminary hearing regarding the perjury charges of former Penn State Athletic Director, Tim Curley and senior vice president for finance and business, Gary Schultz. Mr. Schultz also oversaw Human Resources and the University Police Department until he retired in 2009.

The second major preliminary hearing of charges stemming from the Jerry Sandusky grand jury investigation is set to take place today in Harrisburg. "Former" athletic director Tim Curley and former vice president of finance and business Gary Schultz have both been charged with perjury for lying to the grand jury during their investigation of Sandusky.
