Graham Spanier Ousted as Penn State President

As the dominoes continue to topple from the fallout of the Jerry Sandusky scandal, the Penn Sate University Board of Trustees voted today to remove Graham Spanier from his role as University President, effective immediately.

Erickson Would Become President in Event of Spanier Exit

Rodney Erickson has been the Executive Vice President and Provost of the University since 1999. Speculation had indicated that former Pennsylvania Governor and Director of Homeland Security Tom Ridge might be brought in as interim President. While the Trustees may be appointing someone to lead in the interim, it is Erickson who currently has the experience necessary to run the University on a day-to-day basis, and according to the Express-Times, is the most likely heir-apparent to replace Spanier in his exit.

Sources: Spanier Ordered Raises

Multiple sources have informed Onward State that Penn State President Graham Spanier announced on Monday a 1% raise for all faculty members. It is believed, but not yet confirmed, that the raise was a university-wide one, extending from professors "down to janitors and grounds crew."
