
Just days until the Nittany Lions take the field against Youngstown State, coach Paterno has yet to announce a starting quarterback; however, seniors Ollie Ogbu and Brett Bracket have shown enough leadership to be voted captains for 2010.

The rush is on. Penn State alumni and fans are urging Penn State officials to rename the current Beaver Stadium to Joe Paterno Field at Beaver Stadium, and they want it done while Joe still roams the sidelines.
According to reports by StateCollege.com, alumnus Warren Armstrong has been actively persuading President Graham Spanier and athletics director Tim Curley to change the name of the stadium to honor Paterno, who is entering his 45th year and a couple wins shy of 400 career victories.

Pre-season practices officially concluded on Friday and with that, Joe Paterno and his coaching staff should be pretty much done evaluating players and getting ready to focus on Youngstown State, the first opponent of the 2010 season.

Just a year ago Penn State football pulled in the hottest recruiting class in the Big Ten, attracting 6 of ESPN's top-150 high school players and 14 other high school athletes primed for success. 2011 is not shaping up quite the same... so far.
With signing day not until February, Indiana leads the Big ten with 20 verbal commitments. Ohio State follows with 17 verbal commitments and Nebraska has 12-- the Nittany Lions have just 4. After stockpiling prospects last year quality is certainly better than quantity, but the clock is ticking for Penn State. No other team in the conference is lacking in numbers like Penn State.
