Downtown State College Farmers Market Reopens For The Season Today

Recent rainy weather patterns have diminished that springtime feel, but the Downtown State College Farmers Market is here and ready to bring it back.

Since shutting its doors for the season last November, the market will once again open today on Locust Lane from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Customers can pick from an array of fresh products from local vendors such as fruits, vegetables, baked goods, and even natural soaps.

“We look forward to seeing a lot of people come to just enjoy the market,” said Barrie Moser, a vendor with Moser’s Garden Produce. “We’re hoping to have a lot of fun events, new produce, and just progression this year with the event in general.”

According to the market’s Facebook page, customers can visit the market each Friday throughout the summer and fall. The entire Penn State community is encouraged to check it out. Some past vendors include The Bacrey, Fasta & Ravioli, and Way Fruit Farm.

A bit of a hidden treasure, the event can often go unnoticed by busy Penn Staters – especially during finals week and move-out days. “We are always looking for ways to let the students know we are here,” the market said.

Whether you’re looking for a new way to procrastinate packing or you want to show your folks a different place in town, check out the Downtown State College Farmers Market today – we bet it’s way better than that dining hall food you’ve had all year.
