Movin’ On Releases 2017 Student Survey

The music scene has been popping lately at University Park. As Penn State prepares to host the one and only Kanye West at the Bryce Jordan Center this Friday, our own student-run spring music festival Movin’ On is getting ready for its grand event with an annual student survey to get a sense of what its audience wants to hear.

Many will remember the survey from last year that included many big names, including eventual headliner Walk the Moon. Movin’ On 2016 was a success despite subpar weather; last year’s highlights included a legendary “Ride Wit Me” performance put on by Nelly. The Movin’ On survey has helped the student run organization attract notable artists such as Passion Pit, Big Sean, Wiz Khalifa, and Cage the Elephant, among others, and figures to do much of the same down the road.

This year, artists like Flume, Chance The Rapper, Raury, and The 1975 all made the survey. Movin’ On offered two “write in” spots for students to name any specific artist their hearts desire. I personally put down Childish Gambino and Modern Baseball (because they both rock) but feel free to fill out the survey here and write in the artist of your choice. Who knows, perhaps they’ll even be chosen to headline the 2017 festival!

The Movin ‘ On Music Festival is a free festival for all Penn State students and is traditionally held in April on the last Friday of classes. Keep your eye out for future Movin’ On announcements as the festival gets closer, and feel free to let us know who you want to appear at this year’s festival.

About the Author

Ben Rappaport

is a junior English and Journalism major at Penn State. He loves spending way too much money on concerts and music festivals. Ben can usually be found walking around campus listening to Kanye West. A fun fact about him is he once was resuscitated from unconsciousness by Pusha T's verse on the song "Mercy." Feel free to contact him at [email protected] or follow him on twitter at @Benrappp.
