Colors You Shouldn’t Wear To The Illinois Game

Penn State football’s matchup against Illinois is just two days away, folks.

After the Nittany Lions easily defeated Kent State 56-0 last Saturday, James Franklin wasted no time in looking ahead to his game against the Fighting Illini. Franklin, who isn’t allowed to say, “White Out,” called for “White Out energy,” instead. Since then, many fans have been appropriately putting together their wardrobes for the big game.

Since Penn State Athletics isn’t allowed to tell you to wear *****, Onward State won’t either. We will, however, tell you which colors you shouldn’t wear on Saturday.

Blue

Yes, blue is a staple of Penn State. However, against Illinois, it just won’t be fashionable. All your friends won’t be wearing blue, so you shouldn’t either. I hate to keep my Tank Smith jersey in the closet this weekend, but we all have to make sacrifices for the good of Penn State football.

Orange

Who are you, an Illinois fan? Go sit in the nosebleeds and watch the student section go crazy.

‘Maize’

First, it’s impossible to wear “maize,” since “maize” isn’t even a real color. It’s yellow, but a bunch of people up north decided they’re better than everybody, would make up colors, and would cheat at football. Don’t be like Jim Harbaugh. Don’t wear “maize.”

Green

Folks, I love the Philadelphia Eagles as much as anyone else. However, a Penn State football gameday just isn’t the time to rock your kelly green Saquon Barkley jersey. Green isn’t even a Penn State color and as with blue, you’ll stick out like a sore thumb.

‘Salmon’

Somewhere, a fraternity pledge is saying that his pink shirt is actually “salmon” colored. Just say what color you’re actually wearing, buddy. There’s nothing wrong with wearing pink.

However, there is absolutely something wrong with wearing pink to the Illinois game. You may think it’s close enough to the color everyone else will wear to blend in, but you’ll be wrong. Don’t wear pink, and don’t wear “salmon.”

Any Color That Looks Different From What Everyone Else Is Wearing

I hate to be a conformist, but the Illinois game certainly is the time to do so. When your friends are getting dressed for the game, look at what they’re wearing. Put that color on.

Have a blast tailgating, get into the stadium early, and be loud and proud for Penn State football.

Oh, and make sure to wear *****.
