Rose Bowl Recap

Disappointment characterizes the Penn State response to this year’s Rose Bowl game, but at least it is earnest disappointment.

Kevin at Black Shoe Diaries described it best: “What I’m getting at is this: there is nothing to be upset about here besides the fact that Penn State did not win the Rose Bowl.”

Penn State Live’s Jill Shockey covered the game for the university, and she posted some pretty cool pictures on the Department of Public Information Media Gallery.

To paraphrase Mark Twain: The reports of higher education’s death have been an exaggeration. American universities produce more research and relevant knowledge for the world at large than any other institutions I know of. Tuition may be too damn high, but over the long-run, undergraduate degrees are definitely worth the cost. But Penn State could be so much more. It used to be, I think.
