Registration for Football Tickets Opens

As Tim wrote Friday, the registration window for returning undergraduate and graduate students interested in football season tickets opens at 8 AM today.

Between now and 5 PM Sunday (May 31st), students must follow the instructions posted on GoPSUSports’ Student Central website in order to have an opportunity to buy tickets:

This mandatory pre-registration confirms your intent to participate in the student football ticket sale. To pre-register, please go to http://www.ticketmaster.com/venue/16740. The pre-registration process will mirror the actual sales process in June. As part of this pre-registration, you will go through the steps of “BUYING” your pre-registration, but no costs will be incurred. Upon successfully completing the pre-registration process, you will be eligible to participate in your assigned class sale.

This isn’t wildly different from last year’s ticket purchase procedure, but it’s likely at least a handful of students will overlook the mandatory registration window by accident – the actual sales dates in June tend to overshadow the preceding steps. Make sure you have an opportunity to land football tickets by registering as soon as possible.

Gorman Abruptly Resigns

Head coach of the men’s soccer program Barry Gorman unexpectedly announced his resignation Monday. He leaves a legacy of 22 years of coaching and three Big Ten titles in his wake. Citing “personal reasons,” he has left the team to a nation-wide search for his successor.

“We expected Gorman to be there,” [rising Senior and Co-Captain Andres] Casais said of next season. “He was a father figure to us.”

Oof, that can’t feel good. The move isn’t completely out of the blue, as Gorman was periodically absent during the past few weeks without notice. But from all accounts, his intention to resign was only revealed yesterday. On the abandonment scale, this registers just slightly above “going to the store for some cigarettes and never coming back.”
