Spanier to Meet with USAS

sweatshopAh, let us open up yet another chapter in the saga that is the United Students Against Sweatshops vs. President Spanier. According to a press release by USAS, they are set to meet with Spanier again on Tuesday, November 17th (tomorrow) in Hetzel Lounge. It seems that we have been here before. Will Spanier yet again agree in principle to the cause of the USAS, but in reality offer only a small concession? Will the USAS, feeling disrespected, dial up another “study-in?” Only time will tell.

USAS has gotten Old Main to cut its ties to Russell Athletic, but I have a feeling that until Spanier signs the DSP (Designated Supplier’s Program), the USAS will not be letting up. USAS has noted that “little progress” has been made by Spanier this year, so look for them to keep up the pressure tomorrow. Personally, I’m hoping for a storybook ending for the USAS.
