Stream Worry-Free: ITS Increases Weekly Limit

Bandwidth_graphITS has announced that it will be increasing weekly bandwidth allowance for on-campus students from 4 GB to 10 GB. The increase will go into effect in all residence halls at all campuses at the start of spring semester 2010.

This is the third time the weekly bandwidth allowance has been increased since its creation. Originally, students were allowed just 1.5 GB. In 2006, the limit was increased to 2 GB, and in 2008, it was doubled to the current 4 GB allotment per week.

Imagine the possibilities of 10 Gigabytes per week. That’s an increase of 150%! Imagine all of the videos you can now watch worry-free on YouPorn YouTube!

All I can say is that it’s overdue… I’m so over “bandwidth violations”. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to go back to YouPorn Hulu studying.

Penn State and the Process of Life

To paraphrase Mark Twain: The reports of higher education’s death have been an exaggeration. American universities produce more research and relevant knowledge for the world at large than any other institutions I know of. Tuition may be too damn high, but over the long-run, undergraduate degrees are definitely worth the cost. But Penn State could be so much more. It used to be, I think.
