Free Cupcakes at Onward State’s Duck Pond Tweet Up

I'm excited about Thursday's tweet up for more than just the pancake and bacon cupcakes.

Tweet ups are a great way for Twitter communities to interact in real life, translating digital connections into their offline analogues. And Penn State is definitely ripe for one. Our Twitter community has grown dramatically since this fall, thanks in large part to adoption by organizations like THON and, yes, Penn State itself.

The tweet up will be Thursday afternoon at 4:30pm by the infamous duck pond beside the Hintz Family Alumni Center. Sugar on Top, a new cupcake boutique opening soon on Beaver Ave, will be serving free cupcakes to all attendees. This is going to be a very informal event. Stop by after class or work, jot your Twitter handle down on the name tags we'll be providing, and meet some new friends!

How to Purchase Football Season Tickets

Information was released by the Athletic Department regarding how to buy tickets for the 2010 football season. This year, season tickets will cost students $218.

The process is not extremely challenging, but missing any step in the process would mean spending much more money to buy either season tickets or individual tickets to each game. Read on for the full breakdown.

Historical Exhibit Commemorates PSU Heritage

Most Penn State students are familiar with staple historical landmarks on campus like Old Main and the Lion Shrine. What most students don't realize is that over 70 historical markers and buildings decorate the beautiful west side of campus. On top of that, Penn State has a history of considerable accomplishments in the fields of engineering, agriculture, nuclear science and bio-mechanics.

A photo-exhibition, honoring just a part of Penn State's vast heritage, is currently on display at the Hintz-Alumni Center until June 8. The 32 pictures, which are hanging in Robb Hall, can be divided into three main categories: prominent people, historical buildings and noteworthy accomplishments.

Men’s Volleyball EIVA Championship

Penn State will host the Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association men's volleyball championship on Thursday and Saturday and are the favorites to win the title for the eleventh consecutive time. However, if the regular season was any indication, the team will have to play at or near their best to win the title.

On Thursday, Penn State will take on Springfield College. The winner will advance to play either Princeton or George Mason on Saturday. The winner of the championship game will get one of the three guaranteed berths to the NCAA semifinals.

Find out why the EIVA championship is especially important this year after the jump.
