MegaBus Stop Moved to Walmart. Calamity Ensues

The days of picking up your dry cleaning and getting on a bus to New York are no more–if you rely on the new State College MegaBus service, that is. Instead, you can now pick up some Sam’s Choice soda or McDonald’s before your ride out. That’s right, folks. An email sent out earlier yesterday reads as follows:

Valued Megabus Customer,

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but our stop in State College will be moving on Wednesday July 21, 2010. The new stop will be located in the southwest corner of the Walmart parking lot located at 1665 N Atherton St. Please be advised that no overnight parking will be available on site.

Sincerely,

The Megabus Team

This new stop has plenty of room for parking and will not crowd out the entire street, as the previous stop did. Other bus services do use this  stop as a point of pickup/drop off. All I can hope is that Megabus remembers the convenience of the passengers as well. For some students it is very difficult to get out to N. Atherton if they have to rely on CATA for transportation. Maybe Megabus could offer the same service as the KKBus and offer selected pickup for certain areas.

Will the less convenient location make you less inclined to use the new service? Let us know!
