Dear Freshmen, Get Involved!

Dear Freshmen,

I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but Penn State seems to have a “hit-the-ground-running” philosophy when it comes to move in. There’s not much of an orientation, no team building activities, no fun events designed to introduce you to new people (for the most part, anyway).

Despite this, however, there are tons of ways to get involved in University Park. The best way is to join a club. From student government to THON groups to intramurals, you can bet your bottom dollar you’ll make a friend for life.

And for what Penn State lacks in orientation it makes up in involvement fairs. Involvement Days will be this week in Alumni and Heritage Hall in the HUB from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday and Tuesday will be student organizations, Wednesday will be service organizations, and Thursday will be Greek life. If you still can’t find anything that floats your boat ,you can search the student organization directory.

Just about anyone will tell you that getting involved will make your time here in Happy Valley even more memorable, so get on it!

Kiwi Fro-Yo Comes to Penn State

The Kiwi Yogurt chain is opening its newest store right here in State College, next to the Student Book Store at 324 E. College Ave, this February (no word yet on exact date). Kiwi is a Maine Line, Pa.-based, family-owned company founded in 2008 set on providing “the ultimate dessert experience.”

And it is quite the experience. When you walk in, there is – prepare yourselves – a wall of frozen yogurt options. You get to walk up to this beautiful wall and vend yourself as many flavors as you like.
