Penn State football will make the trip to Philadelphia to play Temple for the first time in almost 10 years after thumping Marshall 45-0 in Campbell’s debut to open the season.

Temple won its first contest of the season, 38-14 over Rhode Island, where running back Keveun Mason rushed for 158 yards and two touchdowns. The Owls also have former Penn State quarterback Jaxon Smolik rostered, who tossed a touchdown on six pass attempts in their opener.

Our staffers don’t see the Nittany Lions running into as many issues as the Rams did in week one.

Ladies and gentlemen, we’re so back.

After the last game, I am more than positive that we have what it takes to have a great season ahead of us. Shutting down Marshall showed how we can dominate both sides of the ball, especially with Rocco Becht’s passing game. Temple will have trouble in Philadelphia, and I’m ready for what’s to come. 

Holden Mostofsky (1-0): Penn State 42, Temple 10

I think Temple is a more talented football program than Marshall. This was proven in some of the Owls’ American Conference bouts last season.

However, after Penn State’s defensive performance last week, I think it’ll keep the Owls’ score low. Becht looked comfortable with the receiving corps, so I also think the offense will put up another 40-point game, and the defense will carry its momentum.

Ericka Apolskis (1-0): Penn State 45, Temple 24

Can’t wait to beat Temple in its Super Bowl.

Ella Cofone (0-0): Penn State 47, Temple 6

First off, I trust Becht. That’s my quarterback.

On top of that, Temple has had one upset that it’s been holding onto for a decade. Most people currently at Temple were like 10 when that happened. Penn State stays winning.

Melanie Thalhimer (1-0): Penn State 42, Temple 3

Easy dub and on to the next!

Brandon Collica (1-0): Penn State 41, Temple 6

Penn State’s defense showed it can be dominant. The Nittany Lions will continue that trend against the Owls.

Brian Kriley (1-0): Penn State 52, Temple 0

The Nittany Lions are 40-4-1 against Temple all-time. After the Campbell era kicked off with a dominant win over Marshall, I’m now even more sure that Penn State’s ownership over Temple will continue in the latest installment of this “rivalry.”

Michael Zeno (1-0): Penn State 49, Temple 7

I went with cautious optimism in Week 1 because of just how many unknowns we had, but after thumping a Marshall team that’ll be competing for the Sun Belt crown, I see no reason why this “road” game in Philly will be anything but a bloodbath.

Wonder if Jaxon Smolik will start…

Jason Perry (1-0): Penn State 51, Temple 6

Temple isn’t better than Marshall. The Nittany Lions should pick up right where they left off and comfortably beat the Owls.

The only question is how the team performs on the road, but I’m confident they have what it takes. I think Penn State will look even better with real game experience under their belt.

Cadyn Gill (1-0): Penn State 38, Temple 13

Jaxon Smolik revenge game? I don’t think so.

Penn State will handle the Owls with relative ease.

Temple’s Mason rushed for 158 yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries against Rhode Island, so Tony Rojas and the rest of the front seven will have to hone in on bringing him back down to earth at the Linc.

As for the Nittany Lions’ offense, I expect offensive coordinator Taylor Mouser to emphasize getting the ground game going, so I’ll chalk up Penn State to rush for 200+ on Saturday. 

Jamie Lynch (1-0): Penn State 56, Temple 0

There will be no “Sackenburg” this time. Therefore, you cannot hurt me.

Oscar Orellana (1-0): Penn State 42, Temple 3

I don’t think this will be particularly close. Penn State should be able to overpower Temple from the opening snap and get off to 2-0 under Matt Campbell.

I’d expect Mouser and Campbell to emphasize getting quality carries for the running backs after a lackluster showing against Marshall.
