Today at noon Quincy Mumford will kick off this season’s SPA Noontime Concert Series. The event will be held on the first floor lounge in the HUB.

Quincy Mumford, a singer/songwriter from Asbury Park, NJ, is an acoustic artist similar to Jack Johnson. His Myspace page is reminiscent of that of many solo artists trying to branch into several genres, including reggae, surf and acoustic.

“Quincy’s music is kind of like Quincy himself,” his website says. “There’s a subtle but strong current that washes over you and rocks you to peace in undulating waves of resonant rhythm. Before you know it, your feet are tapping and your heart is smiling, having been transported to that soothing, uplifting place Quincy Mumford aims to take listeners on every song he writes.”

Mumford has released two full-length albums, one self-titled and the other called “South Edgemere.” They both exhibit Mumford’s ability and talent as a musician. For fans of surf-rock similar to Jack Johnson or even Ben Harper, Mumford will give listeners a bit of a getaway, transporting the mind to a musical surf for a minute or two.
