Boys Like Girls Like Penn State

Today, it was announced that the Student Programming Association will be bringing the artists Boys Like Girls to the homecoming weekend this year with a special performance in Rec Hall.

Tickets for the event, set for October 3, will go on sale next Monday, September 27 and will continue on until Friday, October 1. Tickets will be available in the HUB from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. during those days and will be $5 for students and $10 for non-students.

For those who don’t know Boys Like Girls (BLG), or haven’t turned on the radio in the past few years, BLG is a prominent name in the alternative, pop/punk scene. With hits like “The Great Escape” and “Hero/Heroine” from their self-titled album and “Love Drunk” from their newest album, the crowd is going to go nuts.

Boys Like Girls is a four-piece band from Boston that have continued to rock their way through a career in music. They have released two full-length albums as well as a live DVD already in their five-year career. They are not currently touring until later in November for a European tour, so this is bound to be a special performance.

So what do you guys think? Boys Like Girls is a big name for SPA to be in cahoots with, but it seems a little old and overdone. Yes, they were popular when we were freshmen but is it what you wanted to see on campus now?

Wash your home jersey, stock up on cases of Natty Light and make sure the cornhole and ladder golf sets have all their pieces. It’s almost football season and I can almost already smell the burgers cooking at 10 a.m. To celebrate the upcoming season, we at OnwardState along with our new friends from Stateshades.com will be running a contest giving away pairs of sunglasses.
