Mark your calendars! This year’s homecoming parade is on Friday, Oct. 8 at 6 p.m., so make sure you save yourself a prime spot on the parade route.
Passion Pit, a band whose name is derived from slang for a make-out spot in Hollywood, will be doing a little more than making out when they come to the Bryce Jordan Center next Friday, Oct. 15.
According to Urban Dictionary, Passion Pit has two appropriate definitions: 1) a band that some of my friends like with a main appeal that no one has heard of them and 2) an orgy between MGMT and Animal Collective.
But what does Passion Pit sound like?

Imagine spending long nights in a fraternity basement surrounded by squares of colorful, flame-resistant tissue paper, gallons of Elmer's glue, and a few hundred yards of chicken wire. Add in the deafening sounds of a power saw and the constant whirring of electric drills, and you've pretty much described what Homecoming is like for most paired fraternities and sororities.
Despite the yucky weather, students came out to the Old Main lawn for Homecoming's Best of Penn State Carnival on Wednesday evening. As per the press release, “The carnival tie[d] together themes around the Penn State campus and downtown State College to highlight what Penn Staters take pride in the most.”
