Women’s Soccer Rights the Ship Away From Home

Thanks to a couple of fantastic efforts from goalkeeper Krissy Tribbett, the Nittany Lions’ women’s soccer team was able to get their season back on track with wins over Northwestern and Iowa over the weekend.

On Friday, after going down 1-0 ten minutes out of the gate, Christine Nairn booted in a penalty kick in the 31st minute to tie the game at one and then scored the game-winner in the 67th minute to give Penn State the 2-1 win over the Lady Wildcats. The goals were Nairn’s fourth and fifth of the season.

The team fed off of that victory as it rolled into Iowa City on Sunday to take on the Hawkeyes. Tribbett stopped all five Iowa shots that were on net to earn the shutout and three different players scored as Penn State got the shutout, 3-0.

For their accomplishments over the weekend, Tribbett and freshman Tani Costa were both honored by the Big Ten. Tribbett was named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week and Costa was the Big Ten Freshman of the Week.

Upcoming Schedule
Friday vs. Minnesota, 7:00 p.m.
Sunday vs. (first-place) Wisconsin, noon.
