Student Trustee Application Now Available

The Board of Trustees of The Pennsylvania State University is looking for a new Student Trustee. Through the University’s charter, the Board has been given the responsibility for the government and well-being of Penn State, including the interests of students, faculty, administrators, and alumni. More specifically, the Board decides on operating budget, major projects and renovations, academic programs and initiatives, and thelike for all Penn State locations.

The position is open to any full time PSU student–semester standing and campus aren’t considerations. Student-trustee is, however, very time consuming, so think seriously about your prior commitments before jumping into the application process. That being said, it is a rewarding experience: Rodney Hughes, the current trustee, actually chose his dissertation topic from topics he was exposed to while serving “I’ve found that my academic experiences and out-of-the classroom experiences [through the student trustee position] have become integrated to the point that I can’t really tell them apart,” Hughes said.

Speaking of the application process: you can fill out an application and send it to [email protected] or mail it to the Board of Trustees Office, 205 Old Main, University Park, PA 16802. Applications are due December 1 and will be followed by interviews. If you have an questions or concerns, feel free to contact Rodney Hughes.

Kiwi Fro-Yo Comes to Penn State

The Kiwi Yogurt chain is opening its newest store right here in State College, next to the Student Book Store at 324 E. College Ave, this February (no word yet on exact date). Kiwi is a Maine Line, Pa.-based, family-owned company founded in 2008 set on providing “the ultimate dessert experience.”

And it is quite the experience. When you walk in, there is – prepare yourselves – a wall of frozen yogurt options. You get to walk up to this beautiful wall and vend yourself as many flavors as you like.
