Food and Booze Under One Roof, The Recipedia

A pot of Ramen noodles or a fine herbed chicken breast? Holding your nose through Vlad shots or a pitcher of peach ring Bacardi? Over drafting your PNC card on Monkey Boys or $2.50 Long Island iced teas at The Phyrst? It’s your call. But if you’re ready to stop taking cold dorm showers and graduate to the classier side of State College late night, The Recipedia is something to check out.

The brain child of a group of Penn State seniors, The Recipedia is a food and beverage mecca created by the student for the student. Like a Wikipedia of food, the recipe section has a list of college-friendly meals that can be whipped up on a low budget and limited cooking knowledge. A wealth of easier-than-Rachel-Ray recipes can be found with the click of a mouse. What is better than a good dinner to kick off a weekend? Sorry Canyon, the dollar slices are no match for a platter of Chicken Parmesan.

There is even a subsection of just drink recipes on the site, called The Pour. This is perfect if you’d like to enjoy a few drinks before heading out for the night. With over 9,000 different mixes like Skittles vodka and Sexy Lemonade Punch, the jungle juice cooler just got fancier.

After browsing The Recipedia, you may start to feel like quite the connoisseur. You already have a good dinner and a round of mixed drinks under your belt. But if you’re trying to get extra snooty, there is a section on the site called The Lunchbox dedicated to dining columns. Mixing comedy with critiques, The Lunchbox has everything from Four Loko stories to what bar gets a thumbs up or thumbs down. There are even some new drinking games you can pick up.

With a database of all the downtown bar specials, The Recipedia isn’t telling you how to drink, just how to drink smarter. Never miss $2 pitchers of High Life or $3 tequila again. You can search food and drink deals either by day or by the bar. Wasted Wednesday was never so cheap. Find out exactly what’s going on even before you step foot in the bar.

To help get the newly designed site off the ground, the folks at The Recipedia are giving away two pitchers of free booze. Yes, I’ll say it again. Free Booze. All you have to do (cue infomercial jingle) is add The Recipedia on Facebook and Twitter. Not only will you then be throw into a chance to win FREE BOOZE, you’ll be able to get all that the site has to offer in the convenience of social media. Oh, and you may win free booze.

The Recipedia is like the gift of fine dining in a college-friendly package. Easy-to-make meals, coupled with bangin’ bar specials. Even better, it’s all in a drunk-friendly user-friendly website. The Recipedia may not get you laid on the first date, even if you follow the crab dip recipe to the tee, but it sure can save you a few bucks next time you go out.
