No Night Games at Beaver Stadium in 2011

Most figured that Penn State would still be hosting a night game this season after it was announced last week that Penn State would not be appearing in primetime on ESPN/ABC. Unfortunately for Nittany Lion fans, the best home schedule in recent memory will be without any primetime kickoffs.

Last night, the Big Ten Network revealed their primetime schedule for the 2011 season, and Penn State’s lone appearance will be on October 22 when they travel to Evanston, Illinois to take on Northwestern. The Big Ten will appear in a total of 14 primetime slots in 2011. The full Big Ten Network primetime schedule can be found here.

The last time Penn State was without a night game at home was 2004, when the Nittany Lions traveled to Boston College and Minnesota for primetime appearances. It will be just the fourth time since 2000 that Beaver Stadium will not host a game in primetime.

A night game at Beaver Stadium is one of the most spectacular scenes in college football, and it’s a shame that we will have to wait at least another year to see it.  How do you feel about it? Comment below!
