Onward & Outward: Study Spots

For the past few weeks we've been taking you outside the confines of State College to explore a number of different day trip opportunities in the area. This week, however, we know that you're swamped with finals and leaving the library is probably out of the question, right? Not so fast. With a little bit of exploring, you can find the perfect new study spot on campus, away from the crowds during finals week, and we're here to help you. Reflection Leads To Thanks For The Past Four Years

Albeit a few days past due, editor and senior Dan Vecellio finally is able to reflect on his past four years at Penn State.

The Night America Won

Everyone wants to be a part of history. On May 1, 2011 (a little more than nine and a half years after the September 11, 2001 World Trade Center attacks), almost 6,000 Penn State students got that chance. Flooding the streets of Beaver Canyon, the Penn State community banded together for more than three hours by swinging American flags from makeshift poles of curtain rods or tree branches, wrapping their arms around each other as they belted out the national anthem and celebrated the death of one of the greatest terrorists in modern history.

Help Fight AIDS with Textbooks

Instead of bargaining with the HUB Bookstore to get half your money back for your textbooks there is something else you can do with them. Even the books that the store won't take back can be donated to help fight HIV/AIDS through the organization CARE for AIDS.

Students Bare It All For Finals Study Break

Students were dressed in Christmas lights, Mexican wrestling masks and somberos but nothing else on Sunday night as girls and boys took a break from pouring over textbooks to streak down Mifflin Road and cross another thing off of their Penn State bucket list. Look at Onward State's pictures of the event after the jump.

Movin’ On 2011 Brings Out Students, Despite Rain

With all the debate surrounding Movin’ On 2011, there was certainly going to be an interesting evening in store. There were those who were pessimistic, about the band selections, or those who feared the daunting weather many would be the deciding factor in the success or failure of the concert, but for those in attendance, it was difficult to say that it wasn’t a pretty awesome night. Despite all of the talk and poor weather, Penn Staters didn’t disappoint. In fact, they showed up in droves as the night went on and the music got people moving.
