Registration Closing Soon for Red Bull Homecoming Derby

Got a need for speed? Want to pick up some spirit points for your Homecoming organization? Not afraid of embarrassing yourself?

In that case, the Red Bull Sidehack Derby sounds like it’d be right up your alley. You did answer “yes” to all three of those questions, right?

For the unfamiliar, the Sidehack is sort of like a two-person tandem bicycle, except that there are no pedals, and it seems highly prone to toppling over. You can check out this video of a previous Red Bull Sidehack Derby to see them in action. Looks fun, right?

Homecoming Finance Director Morgan Hite said that the aim of this event, which will be held for the first time this year, is to get more groups and individuals involved in homecoming.

“It’s a different type of event than we’ve in years past, and we hope that with this, it will get participants from different organizations of campus involved with Homecoming,” she said.

For those still interested in participating, the event will be held next Wednesday, October 5 from 10 to 4, at Champs Sports Grill, up on North Atherton Street. Grab a partner, and contact [email protected] to sign up–but hurry, because registration closes this Friday. If you’re lucky enough to win, place, or show, you can even pick up some bonus points for your organization.

Additionally, Champs will offer food specials to participants and spectators, so feel free to show up just to laugh at your classmates.

Guest Column: Endorsements Keep PS4RS on Wrong Track for Accomplishing Meaningful Reform

The loudest voices in this upcoming Board of Trustees election are those who are living in the past, driven primarily by an unhealthy thirst for vengeance. They refuse to acknowledge that the present poses new and distinct challenges, and that our Trustees are the ones who must lead this university through an uncertain future.
