After originally being cut from NFL rosters, the dream of suiting up on Sundays is still possible for several former Penn State football players. Penn State all-time rushing leader Evan Royster and last year’s team captains, Ollie Ogbu and Brett Brackett, have been signed to NFL practice squads.
Attending a Penn State football game is an experience that can't be described in words. The atmosphere in the stadium is overwhelming and there's nothing like 100,000 people taking part in a "We Are" chant. After 3 years of attending football games in the Beav, I've made a few observations regarding its clientele.
Last Friday, the art and music club, SOMA (Students Organizing the Multiple Arts), organized a mobile music showcase titled Keyboard CATA. Participants played live music on the White/Blue Loops for unsuspecting passengers. Is this just the first step toward a more musically-conscience Penn State? Or nothing more than a street performance?
Keith Somers (senior, finance) has created a company that will service the finest Penn State students. Party Service Unlimited LLC's first installment is a white, 14-seater bus that can be rented out for tailgates. You may have seen this bus blaring Ke$ha and promoting itself while traveling around campus. DJ services by resident DJ D-Goodz are included with the bus rental, as well as snacks and drinks! The bus service aims to create a fun, safe environment for Penn State students. I had a chance to meet with Keith and take a ride on the bus last Friday night (cue Katy Perry music) and had a blast. Both Keith and DJ D-Goodz have great energy and know how to take care of their clients.
Yesterday evening, the 2012 THON Captains received a long-awaited knock on their doors, informing them of their new positions. In lieu of the addition to this year's THON assembly, committee member applications are now available, and we know you're itching to fill them out.
Freshmen, on your way back home from a long day of classes, you can stop by the East Halls Quad from 5-7 p.m. for Freshfest, hosted by the University Park Undergraduate Association.
