Songs the Blue Band Should Play

Blue Band

The Penn State Blue Band is awesome. I don’t think anybody will disagree with me there. Singing in unison along with “Hey Baby” or chanting “We are Penn State!” along with the fight song is a great part of every game. While these songs are absolute staples of the Penn State football experience, the staff at Onward State decided to think about what other songs we would love to hear the Blue Band play.

“The Final Countdown” by Europe
This classic was an essential track of the “Ultimate 80’s” playlist I obnoxiously blast in my car during the summer. I can jam out to this song no matter what, and I’d love to see the Blue Band’s interpretation of it. The ending guitar solo is killer, if you can make it that far.

“All of the Lights” by Kanye West – compliments of @natetheperson
Despite how immense of a douchebag Kanye West is, the arrangement and overall production of this 2010 hit is fantastic. While I prefer College Dropout era Kanye, there’s no doubt that the Blue Band pull off an amazing rendition of “All of the Lights.”

“Mission Impossible Theme” – compliments of @andrewleibo
The theme from “Mission Impossible” is instantly recognizable and one of the best movie themes of all time. There’s no doubt that the Blue Band could perform an awesome version while you picture Tom Cruise engaging in all sorts of badassery in your head.

“Never Gonna Give You Up” by Rick Astley
I’m sure you’ve all been Rick Roll’d a time or two in your internet-perusing life. The fact is, this song is pretty damn catchy and also an esteemed member of my aforementioned “Ultimate 80’s” playlist. I would simultaneously laugh and dance my ass off if I heard the Blue Band play this one.

“Kashmir” by Led Zeppelin
If you don’t like Led Zeppelin, well, then I probably don’t like you. This version, performed by the University of Alabama Million Dollar Band is so awesome and needs to be adopted by the Blue Band.

If you have any other suggestions for songs you’d love to hear the Blue Band play, let us know in the comment section below! Also, thanks to those who responded on Twitter!
