Penn State Basketball Improves to 3-0

"Free Big Macs for everyone!"

That was the sentiment shared by most students that attended the basketball game last night at the Jordan Center in which Penn State (3-0) defeated the Long Island Blackbirds (0-3) 77-68.

It had taken 28 games dating back to early last season for the Nittany Lions to reach the 70 point threshold required for the beloved Big Mac Attack promotion to kick-in. Penn State would need most of those points in a back and forth game in which Penn State didn't pull away from until the very end.

Franco Harris Wants Stickies with a Side of Answers

Last night, @RBecklerPSU and I received a tip that former Penn State football great Franco Harris would be meeting with University officials at The College Diner (Yes, the Diner). As he was leaving, we were able to sit down with the Penn State legend to discuss the recent events surrounding Penn State and to talk about his purpose for coming here. And boy, did he have a lot to say.

Sports Illustrated Cover Misses the Target

Allow me to begin by saying that I enjoy Sports Illustrated. They do not just simply report the news; they bring it to life and provide meaning behind it. When I was younger, I used to have a yearly subscription. At some point, I cancelled it, no longer having the time to sit down and read a full magazine, but I still followed much of their coverage.

With all of that said, I was disappointed when I saw their cover page for this week's issue. Do not get me wrong, I fully expected that it would involve Penn State, but something is not right about it. Some words and phrases featured on the cover are: Penn State, failure, shame, scandal, painful, and Paterno legacy. What is missing you might ask? Maybe some mention, if not a picture, of JERRY SANDUSKY?! You know, the gentleman who put us in this mess.

Christmas in November…Tree Lighting!

We're all a little bit upset about the Christmas celebrations before Thanksgiving, but in this case we can put that aside and join the festivities for the downtown State College tree lighting ceremony.

Brady: Erickson President for the Long Haul

According to an email distributed to members of the Schreyer Honors College Student Council, Dean Brady spoke with the group, and offered his insight on leadership at Penn State, especially detailing the future of the presidency.

UPUA Welcomes Florencio to Assembly

Last week, everything normal at Penn State seemed to stop, as we focused all our energy on the ongoing scandal that shows no sign of going away any time soon. The UPUA wasn't immune from the external events--it cancelled its weekly Assembly meeting. But last night, they didn't exactly make up for lost time. With just one piece of legislation on the table, and an extremely uncontroversial one that didn't spend a single dollar, UPUA finished its quickest meeting of the semester thus far, in under an hour.
