Penn State Weekend Sports Preview

While many fans are excited about one of the biggest football games in school history on Saturday, it’s important to remember that many other Penn State teams are also in action this weekend. Here’s a preview of the weekend to come in Penn State Sports.

Football Eve: Friday at 7 P.M.

The 2012 football season starts off with a bang at Football Eve, the annual preseason pep rally. Enjoy Coach O’Brien speaking, along with many other varsity coaches, and learn the Blue Band’s new song.

Women’s Volleyball vs. #6 Stanford, Men’s Soccer vs. Duquesne: Friday at 8 P.M.

Both teams start at the same time, with the Soccer team taking on Duquesne at Jeffrey Field, and the #3 Women’s Volleyball team playing #6 Stanford as part of the Nike Big Four Tournament. Football Eve is scheduled to end around 7:30, with fans being able to march together to the game of their choice afterwards.

Football Team Arrival: Saturday at 9:15 A.M.

The team is scheduled to arrive an hour earlier than last year, and the Blue Buses will pull up to the stadium at 9:15 a.m. Many fans are expected to line the tunnel and show their support as the team walks in to warm up.

Football vs. Ohio: Saturday at 12 P.M.

The Bill O’Brien era kicks off at noon against the Ohio Bobcats in a nationally televised game. Students — make sure you’re there before kickoff, and check out 50 stats about the game here!

Women’s Volleyball vs. #2 Texas: Saturday at 7 P.M.

The Women’s Volleyball team finishes up the Nike Big Four Classic by competing against #2 Texas in a game being shown live on the Big Ten Network. Get there early, as Rec Hall staff expects tickets to be sold out!

#9 Field Hockey vs. Lafayette: Sunday at 2 P.M.

The field hockey wraps up the weekend here in State College when they take on Lafayette. The ladies look to extend their hot start against a team they have gone 16-2 against all time.
