Gameday Coverage: Penn State vs. Navy

Good afternoon from Beaver Stadium where the Penn State Nittany Lions (0-2) are set to take on the Navy Midshipmen (0-1). The Midshipmen are led by Ken Niumatalolo who is in his fifth year as head coach of the program. Today will be Bill O’Brien’s third attempt at his first win after dropping games to Ohio and Virginia. Several service branches of the military will be honored as part of Military Appreciation Day.

Below is all of the information and media coverage for today:

Military flyover: 3:23 p.m. One of the pilots for this is Lt. Josh Feldman, a former snare drummer in the Blue Band.

Penn State fullback and active Navy officer P.J. Byers will lead the Nittany Lions onto the field, carrying an American flag.

Kickoff: 3:35 p.m.

Television: ABC- Mike Patrick (Play-by-play), Ed Cunningham (Analyst), Jeannine Edwards (Sideline reporter)

Radio: Penn State Sports Network- Steve Jones (Play-by-play), Jack Ham (Analyst), Loren Crispell (Sideline reporter)

Weather: 67 degrees, Partly cloudy, 10% chance of rain

Last Time They Met: One has to go way back here, as these squads last played on September 21st, 1974. Navy won the contest 7-6 at Beaver Stadium. Most current players would not be born for fifteen more years.

Injuries: Bill Belton (ankle), Derek Day (shoulder), Pete Massaro (shoulder), and Nyeem Wartman (knee) are all listed as “possible.” Donovan Smith is not listed on the injury report but did not practice Wednesday as he was dealing with an ankle injury. Ty Howle (chest) and Marc Arcidiacono (foot) remain out. Tackle Evan Campbell (ankle) is out for Navy, while wide receiver Matt Aiken (knee), offensive lineman Chris Johnson (knee), and Jonathan Wev (concussion) are all listed as doubtful.
