State Theatre Brings Back Saturday Morning Cartoons

Remember when you were in elementary school? The most stressful thing you had to worry about was which kickball team you would get picked for, or if you would get a Valentine’s Day card from your classmates. Remember Saturday mornings? Just kickin’ back with a bowl of cereal and watching cartoons until your eyes were dry and your ass hurt from sitting in the same spot for hours on end.

Well, here’s your chance to relive the glory days. That’s right — the State Theatre is bringing back Saturday morning cartoons. The Bill Welch Cartoon Series brings all the classics — Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Elmer Fudd, Porky Pig, the Roadrunner, and all your favorite Warner Brothers characters — to the big screen.

In honor of the former mayor of State College, Bill Welch, who was a die-hard cartoon fan, the Bill Welch Cartoon Series was started in 2009, and has since brought nostalgic joy to the cartoon lovers of State College.

Showings start every Saturday morning at 10 a.m. in December, and it’s totally free. Don’t be a Sufferin’ Succotash! Come out to the State Theatre, sit back, relax, and let the good memories take over. Th-th-th-that’s all, Folks!
