Lady Lions Rout Georgetown as Lucas Drops BJC-Record 39 Points
The No. 10 Lady Lions crushed Georgetown 97-74 behind a record-setting performance by junior guard Maggie Lucas. Lucas went on an absolute tear in the first half, tallying 20 points in the opening 10 minutes and 26 by halftime. Her 39 points on the game broke the BJC’s single-game scoring record by either a men’s or women’s player and tied the third-best scoring performance by any player in Penn State Basketball history.
Led by the backcourt duo of Lucas and Alex Bentley, which put up a combined 62 points, 10 rebounds, six assists, and eight steals, the Lady Lions dominated the Hoyas throughout and led by as much as 35 points. At one point in the game, they posted a ridiculous 51-17 lead in what ended up being an effectively uncontested victory.
The win puts the Lady Lions at 7-2 on the season. They play next at Virginia Tech (4-3) on Wednesday before returning home to face South Dakota State next Sunday.
