Movin’ On Headliner to be Announced Wednesday

It’s that special time of year again. Of course, I mean the Movin’ On headlining act announcement.

The 2013 Movin’ On CORE committee will announce the headlining act for this year’s music festival on Wednesday afternoon at 12:30 p.m. in the HUB. The selection is based off of two surveys taken by students earlier this semester as well as artist availability and cost. Movin’ On has roughly $250,000 to work with, which includes operational costs and honoraria for the half dozen or so acts every year. The concert, as always, is free for anyone to attend and usually draws at least 20,000 people every spring.

This year’s concert — the 39th annual — will be held on April 26 on IM Field West located outside of Beaver Stadium.

Artists like Childish Gambino, Frank Ocean, Imagine Dragons, MGMT, Of Monsters & Men, NAS, and others were included on the preliminary survey this semester. Here’s the complete list of surveyed artists — but of course, the Movin’ On headliner might not even come from the list at all.

Who are you hoping to see announced on Wednesday?

Hometown Brewery Releases Beer Honoring Evan Pugh

Penn State’s first president Evan Pugh was born in 1828 at Jordan Bank Farm, three miles south of the city center of Oxford, Pennsylvania, an hour west of Philadelphia in Chester County. One-hundred eighty-nine years later, an Oxford brewery is honoring one of the preeminent champions of “liberal and practical” higher education in the form of a delicious Porter.
