John Legend spoke to a large crowd at Penn State, giving them a chance to be empowered, and speaking about some of his philanthropic work with organizations such as Teach for America and his Show Me Campaign. He also performed a small set of songs following his speech.
This past week we spent a large number of our classes running through syllabuses, painfully combing through each section of the do's and don't's of each class. Some left us in despair, realizing that our first paper of a million is due in less than a week. Others brought us joy with the information that there will be no final. So what exactly would the "perfect" syllabus entail? These are the dreams of the Onward State staff members.
Joe Paterno passed away on January 22, 2012. Next Tuesday marks the one-year anniversary since that day, and to commemorate the iconic coach, a tribute organization, Inspiration Way, will hold a candlelight vigil in Paterno's honor.

Mary Robinson, the first female President of Ireland and 7th overall, will visit Penn State on March 13. The event, called "The Future of Global Ethical Leadership," will be held at Eisenhower Auditorium in conjunction with the Schreyer Honors College and the Student Programming Association.
Montreal-based dubstep duo, Adventure Club, will play a concert at Levels Nightclub on February 6, 2013. The group is notorious for remixing alternative songs.
