Sara Evans to Headline Pegula Ice Arena Show

With an adequate concert venue across the street in the Bryce Jordan Center, no one initially pegged the unfinished Pegula Ice Arena as a possible location for music performances.

But that changed today as award winning country music singer-songwriter Sara Evans became the first subject to book an event at the new home of Penn State hockey. Evans, along with a handful of figure skating stars and Olympic medalists, will participate in a family-themed skating show on November 3 at the new facility.

Tickets will go on sale September 3 and we will have more details when they are provided.

The show will incorporate figure skating, with many stars in the sport set to participate. Hosted by figure skating champions Kristi Yamaguchi and Michael Weiss, other participants include:

  • Olympic gold medalists Ekaterina Gordeeva and Ilia Kulik
  • Olympic silver medalist and five-time U.S. medalist Paul Wylie
  • World Champion and six-time U.S. champion Todd Eldredge
  • Four-time World Champion and four-time Canadian champion Kurt Browning
  • Three-time U.S. champion and two-time World bronze medalist Michael Weiss,
  • World pair champion Isabelle Brasseur and her husband, two-time U.S. pair champion Rocky Marval
  • Five-time Italian champion and Olympian Silvia Fontana and her husband, John Zimmerman, a three-time U.S. pairs champion and Olympian.

The show will be broadcast on NBC on November 24 to a national audience.

Hometown Brewery Releases Beer Honoring Evan Pugh

Penn State’s first president Evan Pugh was born in 1828 at Jordan Bank Farm, three miles south of the city center of Oxford, Pennsylvania, an hour west of Philadelphia in Chester County. One-hundred eighty-nine years later, an Oxford brewery is honoring one of the preeminent champions of “liberal and practical” higher education in the form of a delicious Porter.
