Villanova’s Dwayne Anderson Joins Basketball Staff

Pat Chambers staff for the 2013-14 basketball season is finalized with the addition of former Villanova guard/forward Dwayne Anderson.

With the departure of former associate head coach Eugene Burroughs, Pat Chambers has been looking to add a new assistant, and it had been speculated that Anderson was a potential replacement. Chambers also added former Nittany Lion big man Andrew Jones as a graduate assistant this offseason.

Chambers and Anderson go back to Chambers’ days as an assistant under Jay Wright at Villanova. Anderson went to Villanova from 2005-2009 while Chambers was still on staff. In 2009, Anderson helped lead the Wildcats to their first Final Four since 1985.

Anderson, a native of Silver Springs, Maryland, averaged 5.9 points and 4.0 rebounds per game during his collegiate tenure. After going undrafted in 2009, Anderson played profesional ball overseas in Italy and in Germany, where he was a two time German All-Star in 2011 and 2013.
