Penn State Students Tailgate a Final

It’s no secret that Penn Staters are awesome at tailgating. Every Saturday during the football season, thousands of people flock to State College, fire up their grills, and bust out the cornhole/KanJam/football for the best tailgating experience in America.

But what about the other 40+ weeks a year when there is no football at Beaver Stadium? What about tailgating other events, like one of the finals two of your friends are taking?

That’s exactly what senior and visionary Stephen Pianovich did yesterday afternoon. Along with several other friends, Pianovich organized a tailgate outside of the Forum building because his friends Shane Green and Ryan Cusack had final exams.

“I had the idea a few years ago, no real rhyme or reason to it, just thought it’d be hilarious to pull off,” Pianovich told us. “…I was done all of my schoolworkings by Tuesday and two of my roommates, Ryan and Shane, had a 12:20 exam Wednesday. The stars were aligned. So we tailgated it. Made a facebook event, told a whole bunch of people, some of whom I’m sure did not believe it was actually a thing. And lo and behold, it worked out to be one of my favorite times in college.”

The event was completely alcohol-free, and included some awesome “College Gameday”-esque signs. Despite having some fears that the campus police wouldn’t be too receptive to the event, Pianovich said they actually had no run-ins with the law.

It looks like the event was awesome. Hopefully, Pianovich inspired future generations of students to tailgate finals, too.
