Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords to Speak at Eisenhower

(Update 10-25: Free students tickets are now available at at Eisenhower Auditorium, the HUB ticket center, the Bryce Jordan Center, or the downtown ticketing office. Tickets for the general public will be available on Monday.)

Former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords will speak at Eisenhower Auditorium on November 4 as part of the Student Programming Association’s Distinguished Lecture series.

Congresswoman Giffords represented Arizona’s 8th district for three terms and was a major proponent of immigration and healthcare reform. On January 8, 2011, she was the victim of a shooting which occurred outside of a grocery story in Casas Adobes, Arizona a public constituent meeting. She has since made a miraculous recovery with broad support from both local constituents and national politicians.

Since her resignation from congress on January 25, 2012. she has worked on a campaign with her husband, NASA astronaut Mark Kelly, promoting responsible gun reform called Americans for Responsible Solutions. Kelly will also speak at the event on November 4.

Tickets will be free for Penn State students, with distribution dates to be determined.
